One Greater Manchester club has an amateur veterans squad with nine ex- Premier League players in their present roster.

The team Veterans Over 35s are located in southern the city and play in the Cheshire Veterans Division Premier Tier.

Their roster this campaign boasts nine former top-flight footballers, with a combined nearly 1,800 Premier League appearances.

"That's a little unusual but then, I love running and just go forward - I'm not staying back that much," he added.

"I tell my defender 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to keep running.

"The running is what I'm looking for. It's enjoyable."

Dreamlike' Feeling

In addition to Cisse's six goals on debut, Stephen Ireland has netted 8 in three games for Wythenshawe, while Boyd hit 5 on his first match and Lescott, a defender by position, scored a hat-trick in one game up front.

Wythenshawe are leading of the Premier Division with 3 wins from three and a GD of +19.

One opponent, thirty-eight, who plays on the flank for the opposition, faced former Wigan full-back Maynor Figueroa on Sunday - and had to tell his young son who Emile Heskey was.

"We really have not stopped talking about it - I was calling my mother and sibling on the journey home.

"They were all friendly, shaking our hands after the match - it was like playing a bunch of regular guys.

"Now we are eager for the second fixture."
